Cyber Safety Checklist
Working online is a lot of fun, but we have to remember to be Cyber Smart and make safe choices EVERY TIME. Even things that start out fun like meeting up, sharing personal social accounts, email addresses, or details about your private life can lead to disaster.
Make a ‘Never List’
We're all guilty of getting a little too trusting when we get comfortable with our viewers. A good way to prevent secrets (and personal info) from slipping is to make a list of all your private info you wouldn't dare share on the Internet, then stick to it! This list acts as a reminder when you let your guard down then remember "It's on the list! No sharing allowed!"
Avoid Unprofessionals
Joining another creator for some juicy collaboration content is a great idea when its done with another professional. How do you know this person is professional? They have no problems answering questions like
Are there other performers you’ve worked with i can contact for reference?
How do you keep my personal documents safe once they are shared?
How is the money split between us?
Do you have a standard contract? If so can i look at it before we begin?
ANYONE that can not answer simple questions like these should not be collaborated with. I know that sounds harsh but TRUST ME. When something like an offline collaboration goes wrong…it goes WRONG. So, keep it professional & stay safe.
Never Meet Offline
If you are getting constant requests from fans to meet or go on a vacation together don’t stress. All you have to say is the platform you are using (doesnt matter which one) stricktly forbids meeting up and tracks messages that talk about this. So to keep you from getting in trouble please can we not talk about it and focus on having fun online.
CyberSmart safety checklist
Turn off your cell phone cameras 'location tags', 'GPS location', or 'geo-tags' so your location won't be included in the image data. It will be easy to find just look in the settings inside your camera app.
Don't leave sensitive personal items in the background of your show. This includes addresses, broadcasting in front of open windows with street signs, school books, bills, family photos, playing local radio stations, etc...
Protect your address and location when accepting Amazon gifts by using a 'Package Forwarding' service to act as a middleman. Google it and you will find tons of options.
Protect your address when sending mail too by using either RapidRemailer.com or Ghostmail.co.uk
Don't use the same SFW (non-nude) pictures on both (your cam site profile) and your personal social accounts. Google images might link them.
When filling out any DMCA, or the 'Google Copyright Removal Form' content removal forms make sure you use your "real" camming name (Eg. Nikole Nightly), and one of the addresses your package forwarding service gave you when you signed up for your free account ;) Whatever you write there will be seen on the DMCA/removal form for 30 days in place of the content you had removed.
For the love of god if you're using PayPal just stop.
BE CYBER SAFE OUT THERE BB's! XO
